What is unique about ING DIRECT's Privacy Policy?

ING DIRECT's privacy policy exceeds the standards required by congressional legislation. One requirement of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Financial Modernization Act of 1999, or GLB, requires financial institutions to provide Customers with the ability to "opt-out" of information sharing. ING DIRECT has adopted an "opt-in" privacy policy, which means that we will not share your data unless you explicitly request that we do so.

ING DIRECT restricts access to your personal and financial information to our employees who need it to do their job. Employees with access to your information are required to strictly maintain the confidentiality of all Customer information.

Principle 4. We maintain your privacy even after you cease to be our Customer.

If you decide to close your account or become an inactive Customer, ING DIRECT will continue to follow this privacy policy with respect to the information we have in our possession about you and your account(s).
